I am interested in the people I feel I do not relate to. One of which being men, and Chinese men at that. They share ancestry with me, and yet I am not Chinese, but Australian.

I am curious about what care and love looks like when it is hidden beneath layers of conflict.

In a world that does not centre intimacy, or vulnerability, based upon my own understanding, what are the levels of unlearning desired towards both men, and towards our world view?

What is necessary for our abilities to recognise men? What are they after, truly? I am curious about the root of this question.

Jiu Tong Deng is a moving image work that blends existential dread, philosophical musings and the weight of cultural misconceptions from my blurring view of what life is, and is for, here in the West.
