A month long performance development series exploring improvisational performance, satire, absurdity, vulnerability and bi-cultural experience.
This artist residency was kindly supported and facilitated by MUD, a local cultural arts initiative based on Kaurna Yarta. MUD’s ethos aim to aid ecological theories and experimental, regenerative and empowering projects.
For four Tuesdays in September, Jazmine presented improvised performance artworks in developments. She embodied the roles of her mother and father, sang Cantonese songs aloud, wore her parents clothing and spoke aloud stories of absurdity, reality and fiction.
She moved and grappled with a wooden chair, crawled along the ground, called herself a chicken, talked about and around the idea of 'space’ and held it up in the air, asking for it to be held, and then released.
